Day Forty. Sun, Finally.

Today was the first day in a very long time that the sun has been out. Even though I was sad to see the sun set it couldn't have been any more gorgeous.

Day Thirty-Nine. Two Dog Night.

Not a three dog night but a two dog night. This is what a lazy evening at my place looks like. Yes, it is as cozy and warm as it looks. Cuddlers are welcome...

Day Thirty-Eight. The RR Crossing.

Sometimes I wonder what in the world can one person do to make a difference. Then I come across a railroad crossing and it's flashing. Granted many crossings have the mechanical arms that barricade the road to ward of drivers of the dangers, but there are still several that are only notifying drivers of trains' crossings by the flash of a tiny light. Something as simple as a flashing light can save a life, can make that difference. What is your flashing light? What is that simple thing you can do to make a difference?

Day Thirty-Seven. Bella-The Natural Pose.

Bella is a curious kitty. She was dumped on the side of the road when she was very, very little. She was the runt of the litter, and they were barely over a month old. She literally just fit in the palm of my hand. Over her developmental stages Bella has had a vision problem. It is actually more funny and endearing then sad or unjust. She is such a loopy kitty that even if she can't see something by looking at it she will look to the side to focus in on what she's meaning to see. Often times her eyes cross and then uncross. However, this cat is so agile and precise she has put to shame many more capable kitties. And so came the phrase "Bella is CRAAAAZY."

Day Thirty-Six. Snow, again?!

Every morning, after I wake up, I go around and open the shades to let the morning light flow in when the sun rises. This morning started off dark and wet, like the past several weeks have. I finish with my hair and make-up a while later and finally open the shade in my main bathroom. Up goes the roll shade and down goes my jaw. These huge, lumpy snow flakes were falling with a sort of determination towards the earth. Heavy and certainly they drifted from the sky down to the ground clinging to what short life they might have. It was almost as if the heavens just opened up as these monstrous flakes descended. As much as I am ready for the spring weather and for the mud to dry up, seeing these snow flakes dance with life made me smile. When the snow falls things change. Things that were not clean become clean, the grunge and human touch is manipulated into something entirely different. Something pure. The trees grow, the ground becomes a new canvas again. It is amazing, the forgiving powers of a freshly fallen snow.

Day Thirty-Five. Rain, Rain Go Away...

Come again another day...in the very, very distant future. Please.

Day Thirty-Three. The Black Cat Appeal.

This is Survivor. She is one of my parents' cats. I have had the hardest time getting a fair picture of her because she is such a dark black color. I did manage one a little better than this, but this was my favorite. I think it shows the perfect balance of her facial features with the ability to be indiscernible. Even though she's a cat, I consider her a furry sister...packed with attitude.

Day Thirty-Two. The Mighty Trees.

Even in the depths of winter the trees, to me, are very humbling. To think that these creatures have withstood year after year of blazing sun and frigid cold, to grow taller and stronger than ever before. I think many times in winter we forget the strength and power of the tree. Without it's leaves it seems weak and silent. However, if you listen closely you can hear it's stories of pain and joy. You can hear it thriving and awaiting spring to bear it's warm sunlight and moist rains.

Day Thirty-One. Crazy Critter.

Aha! Caught him. Man, this sucker was a fast, whacky little bugger. I guess that's why some people are called "squirrely".
